I am serving my 5th year with FOCUS. I had the gift of serving for 2 years at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and then 2 years as the Team Director at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. I am now serving at the University of Memphis alongside my husband, Max, and our teammates Nick Driskill and Kylie Dougherty!

Growing up, I didn’t know there was a difference between being Catholic and living out the Catholic faith. It was a title I was proud to have, but I wasn’t sure what to do with it. When I left my hometown of Murray, Kentucky to go to college at Western Kentucky University, I had no idea of the gifts and challenges God had in store for me. I began consistently going to the Newman center on campus and slowly recognized a longing in my heart for something more, but I didn’t know what that meant or what I wanted it to look like. My junior year, FOCUS missionaries arrived on campus, and I quickly saw exactly what I was missing and what my heart was longing for. They knew God, and they were so joyful, and I wanted it. So I pursued it, and God and I have been on an incredible adventure ever since.

As I answered the call to be His missionary, He finally showed me how I wanted my life to look: to be an imitation of His. As a missionary, I am able to look to Christ’s example of investing in a few through authentic friendship to reach the entire world. My greatest desire is for everyone to have an encounter with Christ and to know His love and to understand the message of the Gospel.

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I committed to relying on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with an amazing team of friends, family, and parishioners from my home parish who support me and make it possible for me to love and serve the students at my campus.

St. Therese of Lisieux once said, “Some give by going to the missions, others go by giving.” God calls us all to be His missionaries, though it doesn’t always look the same. Thank you for your ‘yes.’ It is my joy to be on this mission with you.
