My name is Katie, and I’m a Varsity Catholic missionary at The Ohio State University. Go Bucks! You can catch me at most of the games/meets/matches on campus or at the St. Thomas More Newman Center. My mission on this campus is to bring students to Jesus by providing the space for them to be seen, known, and loved daily.

My Catholic faith has anchored me to Christ and allowed me to seek out His call to mission. I encountered Jesus from a young age in the sacraments and in Catholic school education. It was not until college when I learned that Jesus wanted to be a part of my entire life, especially my sport. I studied Kinesiology at Louisiana State University and played indoor and beach volleyball at LSU. Geaux Tigers! The Fellowship of Christian Athletes at LSU is the first apostolate that showed me how my identity is not rooted in my sport but rather in Jesus alone.

After LSU, I attended graduate school at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and received my Doctor of Physical Therapy in May 2022. My call to mission reminds me of the call of Peter: Jesus meets Peter is his trade as a fisherman; He allows Peter to succeed in his job and provides abundantly; and only then does Jesus invite Peter to lay down his life to become an apostle. How could I say no to that?!

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus.
