After four years of serving on campuses in the Northeast, it is with great joy that I enter my fifth year serving with FOCUS by joining the Formation Team at FOCUS’ Denver Support Center in Colorado!
The Formation Team has the gift of serving the entire apostolate of FOCUS by supporting campus and parish missionaries with the resources and formation needed to accompany their communities in knowing, loving, and serving Jesus ever more wholeheartedly. I will be serving the team specifically through helping design and implement our New Staff Training, where we take our first and second year missionaries through a summer intensive of human, spiritual, intellectual, and apostolic formation.
Before college, I never considered God to be a personal and loving person who sought to know me. When I went to the University of Miami, I encountered young people who had this special joy and openness about them, who led me to seek deeper relationships and a profound healing experience through the Eucharist and the sacrament of Reconciliation.
Transformed and overjoyed with my experience of God’s mercy, I said yes to going on a mission trip to Haiti the summer after my freshman year. After coming back, my eyes were opened to the vast spiritual poverty in myself during my college journey and around me in my friends on campus. Through the friendship and witness of FOCUS missionaries, I saw how they resolved to be soldiers against this spiritual poverty. I’m grateful to have had others be Jesus to me during those times through intentional friendship, and I ache to do the same for others.
College is a time for getting to know oneself, but can lead to falling into toxic relationships and decisions that lead to isolation, and immense emotional, spiritual, and physical suffering. There is a need for students to be met at this time with the love and healing of Christ. As a FOCUS missionary, it is my mission to reach out and form intentional relationships with the women on campus through one-on-one discipleship, bible studies, and sharing life. In these friendships, I aim to walk with the women into deeper intimacy with Christ and a greater commitment to a life as his disciple. My hope is to help them discover the beauty and power of their femininity and power as daughters of a King, in the particular and individual way that God has made them.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I cannot do I what I do without you, your prayers, and your support. So thank you. Thank you for your generosity; your gift of self is an image of God’s immense goodness to me!
I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. You can reach me by email at [email protected]. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.
