We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hey! I’m Belén and here’s a bit about my journey to falling in love with Jesus Christ and becoming a full-time Missionary for His church!
Why did I leave a fancy job in Washington D.C. to become a Catholic missionary? I had a good job and good friends but I saw the need in young Church.
After graduating from Texas A&M University (Gig Em!) and entering the workforce for 2 years, I felt deeply convicted to be boots on the ground for the Church and have now served as a full-time missionary in New York City then in Virginia serving on the college campuses of Columbia and UVA. I have mentored and lived alongside college students for 4 years.
My life was (and continues to be!) radically transformed by Jesus and I can’t help but want that joy and life-changing message of the Gospel for others! As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to Christ. In His ministry on earth, Jesus humbled Himself to meet us on our level, taking on our humanity, and spent most of His time investing deeply in a few. I look to Jesus’ own example to find the best method of reaching the world: deep, intentional, life-sharing investment in others. I am a missionary today because a FOCUS missionary reached out to me and pursued me in friendship while I was a student and spent time and energy teaching me and modeling what a life of virtue looks like.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me be fully available to my students and this mission. I have learned so much about the love of the Father through the incredibly faithful people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know the best way to reach you, and I will schedule a time to chat! I’d be honored to share this mission with you. I can be reached at (713) 518-4570 and [email protected]
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
