We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
“But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.’”
I serve on the Missions Team at FOCUS. I help organize international mission trips for college students. Our goal is to spread the gospel all over the world and to serve the poor in the countries we go to.
Throughout my life, God has chosen me again and again.
When I was fifteen years old, I had just finished one of my first soccer games of the season. As I was leaving the stadium, a woman I had never seen before walked up to me. She looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Abbey! Great game, I am so proud of you!”
I stared back, confused—who is this woman, and how does she know my name?
Later, I learned her name was Kaylan Riley, a missionary serving at my high school. She knew me by name. And through her, I knew God was calling me. He saw me. He wanted me.
That was the beginning. I started attending Bible studies, learning more about Jesus. I went to summer camp and there, I fell in love—with the Love of God.
After high school, I left for college at Wake Forest University and majored in Economics, with dreams of going into banking or economic development. But in the midst of the freedom and ambition of college life, I lost sight of the Lord. I chased after success, approval, and the pleasures of the world.
Years passed. And despite all I had gained, I felt empty. Broken. Restless.
That’s when I remembered the only One who had ever truly satisfied my heart—Jesus. My senior year of college- I decided to surrender my life to the Lord and rest my heart in Him. God has led me to FOCUS to help bring the Gospel to His Beloved.
When I said yes to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. If you are interested in supporting me and my work with FOCUS, I would love to connect with you!

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
