We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
God has called me to stay at Georgia Southern University for one final semester to serve students at my beloved campus as I complete my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing – Go Eagles! You can usually find me frequenting my favorite coffee shops, studying, or hanging out at our Catholic Student Center.
When I started college in the ever so small town of Statesboro, GA, I had no clue what I was doing. I was hurting from past relationships, brokenness, and sin. I had nowhere else to turn, so I went to the local Catholic Church, which also happened to be the only one within a 20 mile radius of campus.
In my first week, I was encountered by a missionary to join her in bible study and prayer. She was incredibly joyful, beyond the counterfeit joy I had seen before. I knew I desired to be friends with her, but more importantly to find out where her joy came from. It was in these moments that the Lord re-enflamed the radical desire for holiness I once had, but had somehow lost along the way. I came to know that life was meant to be lived in service of others, so that I ultimately may serve Jesus Christ.
The love He has so freely given us is a gift I have seen change lives in the most unexpected places – in college libraries, on the way to class, and even in crowded football games! On the flip side, I have seen first hand how many students have not been told the great news and how broken and alone it has left them. As we are told in John 14, Jesus is the “the way, the truth, and the life!” How lost are our sisters and brothers on the college campus when they do not know the Way Himself!
When I said “yes” to join FOCUS, I also made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners. The journey of the gospel is not one that is meant to be traveled alone; even the disciples were sent out two by two! If you are interested in traveling along the road to holiness with me in this way, I would love to have you on my support team. I would be more than happy to set up an appointment with you. Thank you for your generous and prayerful consideration!

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
