I am very excited to serve as a FOCUS missionary on my home college campus in Dublin, Ireland. FOCUS came to my campus during my first year of college, so I have seen and benefited from the work and fellowship of the missionaries, and I am looking forward to becoming a part of the team!
I was extremely blessed to be raised in a loving and practicing Catholic family, but as is the case for many Irish Catholics, I always viewed my faith as more to do with devotion and tradition, which was relegated to Sundays. After a few years of slowly becoming less interested in faith, I had a conversion moment after attending a Catholic retreat when I was 16 years old. Suddenly, it became very obvious that Jesus was indeed real, and I knew my life would be changed forever. While I continued to place my faith as a high priority in my life, I was still seeking the ‘mountain top’ experiences of my initial encounter when I was 16, but I had no prayer life, and I didn’t really understand the importance of the sacraments. When I got to college, I almost immediately encountered the FOCUS missionaries through the Catholic society on campus. I began attending a weekly bible study led by one of the missionaries, Katie, and I started prioritizing daily prayer and attending daily mass on campus when I could. It was the investment by Katie into our friendship, and her genuine desire to help me grow in my relationship with the Lord, that truly transformed the way I viewed my faith, and I feel very privileged to be given the opportunity to do the same for other Irish students.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS as a college campus missionary, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.
