We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
“Accept whatever He gives, and give whatever He takes with a big smile.”
-St. Teresa of Calcutta
Hi there! My name is Amara Trudzinski, and this is my first year serving as a FOCUS missionary! This year, the Lord has called me to leave the Midwest to serve in the East at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. Rams Up!
I grew up in the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri. As a child, I was raised in the Catholic faith, but I truly experienced a maturation of that faith in college. I attended Grand Canyon University (Lopes Up!) where I received a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management and marketing & advertising. During my time at GCU, I went on a retreat with the Newman Center in the spring of my sophomore year, which completely changed everything. I encountered Jesus Christ through the Sacraments of the Church in a way that I had never quite encountered Him before. From that moment on, I knew the Lord was inviting me into a deeper, more personal relationship with Him.
So, I decided to accept His invitation and take the leap. And I am so glad I did. I learned what it meant to walk intentionally with the Lord and with others. I found myself surrounded by friends who were striving to grow in virtue alongside me. Praise be to God for placing such wonderful people in my life when I needed them most!
After graduating in the spring of 2023 and saying goodbye to Arizona, I participated in Summer Projects in Denver, Colorado, where I was able to learn and grow professionally and spiritually. As I participated in a Bible study, discipleship group, and fellowship with other young adults (including a team of FOCUS missionaries), I became more formed in my faith and recognized the desire to evangelize that had settled deep in my heart. After much discernment, I eventually decided to apply to be a missionary, and now here I am!
I would not be where I am today in my faith journey had people not taken the time to invest in me and lead me closer to Jesus Christ throughout my life, especially during my college years. It is my hope that God will work through me and guide me as I encounter hearts that are yearning to know Him and the love that He has for them. Some people are sent on mission and others do the sending. If the Lord is calling you to do so, I hope you will join my support team so that together we can bring others closer to Christ and fulfill the Great Commission! Please feel free to reach out via email at [email protected]. I’d love to schedule an appointment to share more about this mission with you!

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
