God has called me away from the beautiful evergreen trees and delicious coffee of Washington state to serve college students as a FOCUS missionary at Stony Brook University in Long Island, New York!

I am grateful to say that I’ve known the Lord for as long as I can remember. Growing up in an evangelical Protestant home taught me so much about what it means to be a Christian, and I’ve spent the last 22 years of my life learning about God’s perfect love and His pursuit of me. In response, I have, for the most part, fervently followed Him. In His lovingkindness, discipleship to Jesus brought me closer to His very own Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Eucharist, and I was received into the Catholic Church at Easter Vigil 2023.

I decided to become a FOCUS missionary because my conversion to the Catholic faith revealed to me the profound joy and depth of relationship with Christ that comes from a life centered on the Eucharist. God used my time in college (Go Zags!) to foster the gift of compassion within me, and my heart breaks when I see college students living aimlessly in false fulfillment and emptiness, knowing they are often unaware of the light and hope found in a relationship with Jesus. Jesus eagerly awaits to fill the God-shaped hole in so many hearts, and I am blessed to play even the smallest role in helping others come to know Him.

Part of answering the Lord’s call to join FOCUS was the decision to rely completely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners. My team and I have the honor of being the hands and feet that walk the road alongside students at Stony Brook University, but it is only with the spiritual and financial support of mission partners that we are able to commit our full selves to serving the Lord in this way.
