We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hello! My name is Andrea, but most people call me Andie! I’m a FOCUS Missionary!
“I am not my own; I have given myself to Jesus. He must be my only love.”
~ St. Kateri Tekakwitha
God has called me to serve at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL! I am very excited to follow God’s call to NIU and begin my work as a Missionary there!
Growing up, I was taught about Jesus and His endless love. I was rooted in my Catholic faith. However, as life became difficult, I realized my faith wasn’t as strong as I believed. The first time my faith was challenged, I buckled under pressure. I underwent trials and felt abandoned by God. By the time I left home to attend college at the University of Illinois at Chicago, I was ready to abandon my faith and I practically did. However, through the grace of God and an invitation from a FOCUS missionary, I ended up joining a Bible Study at UIC’s Catholic Newman Center.
Soon, I began to develop virtuous friendships with students and FOCUS missionaries I met at the Newman Center. I witnessed Christ’s love radiating through them. At this time of my life, I was trapped in darkness, but the missionaries I met reached into the darkness and offered me Christ’s light. Jesus knew I was lost, and He worked through the missionaries to ensure I was found. He used FOCUS to reach me when I was running from Him. He revealed that He never abandoned me when I felt alone. And through the example of the FOCUS missionaries, He taught me how to love Him again.
As a FOCUS Missionary, I have said yes to relying on the spiritual and financial support of Mission Partners to help me serve on this mission God has called me to. If you are interested in becoming my Mission Partner, please reach out to me and we will set up an appointment! I would be honored to share this mission with you!

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
