We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
“He is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you”
– St. John Paul II
God has called me to continue serving the college students at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA!! I am entering my second year with my teammates: Jack, Hannah, Weston, and our new teammate, Julia! We are so excited to continue walking with our students and to encounter more on this campus!
Growing up, my parents taught me a lot of prayers and took me to Mass multiple times a week, but I did not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In high school, I encountered Him for the first time in adoration at the Diocese of Austin Catholic Youth Conference and I have never felt anything like that before. His presence and His love was so real and incredibly powerful.
Coming into college, I went to Mass on Sundays and retreats every once in a while to feel the “spiritual high” that I experienced in high school, but I was still unaware that I could truly know the Lord. However, everything changed when I met a FOCUS missionary during my sophomore year and she turned my life upside down. Sounds a little dramatic, I know, but let me explain.
An invitation to coffee turned into an invitation to Mass, and that is when my relationship with Jesus Christ began to grow exponentially. She challenged me to strive for a life of virtue, and through her, the Lord invited me to say “yes” to Him and the good and beautiful things in life that He desires to share with me. By developing a daily prayer life and frequenting the sacraments, I have grown closer to Jesus and get to experience the love that He is.
Why am I a FOCUS missionary? Because of the impact that my friend (and the Lord, of course) had on my life and I want other college students to discover the abundant joy that a life with Christ has to offer. God has placed a desire for mission on my heart and I am excited to share my life with other women and walk with them on their journey to Heaven.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I have been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I would be honored to share this mission with you!
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
