We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Jesus answered and said to them, “What I am doing, you do not understand now, but you will understand later.”
John 13:7
I am serving the students at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky!
When I got to the Catholic Student Center at Texas State University, I was amazed at how often I saw people praying in the chapel. I’ve always known Christ but never in a personal way like I saw in these students. Seeing their devotion made me realize my own relationship with Christ was far from close, so I decided to seek Him more deeply. During my time in college, I learned how to start a prayer life like those students, and slowly but surely, my prayer life grew along with my confidence, zeal, and desire to help others. I became free from sins I often struggled with and was able to help other women do the same. Now, I know Christ as my Savior, Father, and friend.
Through leading a Bible study, I learned that teaching and Christian leadership is one of the best ways to grow in faith, humility, and perseverance. At first, finding joy in mission leadership was tough, but during my senior year, something changed. I began focusing more on the people around me rather than myself. I loved learning about their lives and stopped worrying about what others thought. This shift allowed me to love God’s children without judgment or self-concern, bringing me immense joy and fulfillment. This experience inspired me to apply for full-time mission work with FOCUS.
Being on mission full-time gives me the freedom to invest in these women and be radically available to them. This would not be possible without the generosity of those who financially give to this mission. I believe everyone needs to encounter Jesus in a personal, life-changing way, but not everyone has the ability to go and do so, which is why I needed to answer the invitation the Lord was giving me to do his work full-time. By partnering with me, we are able to make the desire of the Father to be in union with his children for eternity possible. It would be an honor to partner with you!
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
