We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hello! After two years of serving the students at Ramapo College in New Jersey, I am now entering my sixth year serving at the Denver Support Center with FOCUS Missions. Here in Missions, our aim is to run life-changing mission trips for college students across the country. This work is done by coordinating with our trip hosts and working with the missionaries on campus to invite students to join. Going to international and domestic locations, we strive to bring Christ to the poorest of the poor, and to also have those serving on the trip encounter God in a new and beautiful way. If you are ever interested in hearing about my experience on campus, or about the 16 mission trips I have served on, I would be happy to share how Christ has moved in those experiences!
My call to be a missionary was definitely a radical one, and a totally unexpected gift given to me by the Lord. While His call went against my own plans to pursue my Masters in Speech Language Pathology upon graduation, I knew I wanted to follow God’s path and not my own. I have no regrets about my decision to step away from academics, and I am so joyful to have followed God’s call to serve Him in this specific way.
Being a convert to the Catholic faith in high school, a great deal of my knowledge on how to live an authentic Christian life – building the heart, mind, and habits of a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ – came from my Catholic Center community in college. I attribute much of my initial growth in prayer and sanctification to the Boston University Catholic community, and still retain so many of those friendships today, as one can only do when they are rooted in Jesus Christ. Through these relationships, I saw the importance of such a formative time of life, where so many young men and women fall away from their faith. Seeing the example of the wonderful FOCUS missionaries that served on our campus, I was able to give my YES when the Lord called me too, knowing that serving as His hands and feet was so vital to these young souls. While on campus, I was able to pour myself out for the Ramapo College students, whom I love so dearly now, and I was able to be sharpened further into a saint by my wonderful and virtuous teammates.
As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to Christ, and to share in this authentic, faith filled life that I got to experience in college and continue to experience now. My life has been transformed by Jesus and I want nothing more than to bring this joy to others and introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel. In His ministry on earth, Jesus humbled Himself to meet us on our level, taking on our humanity, and spent most of His time investing deeply in a few. With my call to FOCUS Missions, I am striving to meet this invitation, as well as His invitation to go out and to serve the physically and spiritually poor. I’ve been constantly amazed by the different souls I’ve encountered on my campus, and those whom I have encountered on mission trips as well.
“It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the doing. It is not how much we give, but how much love we put in the giving.” – Mother Teresa
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus and in a support center role. I cannot convey enough gratitude for those who have partnered with me so far, in prayer and in a financial way. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.
