We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
“No matter what you have done, I love you for your own sake. Come to Me with your misery and your sins, with your troubles and needs, and with all your longing to be loved. I stand at the door of your heart and knock… Open to Me, for I THIRST FOR YOU…”
“I Thirst for You” – Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Hi! My name is Cheyenna Cook, and I am so excited that God has called me to serve at George Mason University for my first year on mission as a FOCUS Varsity Catholic missionary! I am beyond grateful for this gift to love and serve the amazing students here and all of those I encounter along the way.
Growing up I would be what you would call a lukewarm Catholic, a very lukewarm Catholic. I knew of God, but I didn’t know Him. I never thought that He thirsted for a divine, intimate relationship with me, and instead of pursuing Him, I chased after what the world offered through soccer to fill the deep desire we all carry in our hearts to be seen, known, and loved. It wasn’t until the end of my senior year in college after a powerful encounter with Christ that my life changed forever – it’s a pretty cool story and I’d love to share it with you sometime as well as get to know you and listen to your story!
Encountering Love Himself was the first time I ever felt truly seen, known, and loved in my entire life, and since then my heart burns to spread His love to others and help them come to know and experience His profound and unyielding love for them, because everyone needs to know how much He loves them, how much He thirsts for them…
Because His love changes everything!
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I begin to serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know the best way to reach you, and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored and thrilled to share this mission with you!

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
