Christian Long

Howdy, I’m Christian! Thank you for all YOU have done for Christ and His Church. Let’s keep changing the world!

Where I serve

After three Christ-filled years on campus at Georgia College, God has invited me to move into full-time work as a Summer Projects Specialist at the Denver Support Center (DSC)! I’m very excited to support the program that the Lord worked through to make me a missionary. Join me on this mission to make modern-day saints on the college campus!

My Story

I attended Troy University (Go Trojans!) for college, where I majored in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Spanish. I was an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity starting in the spring of my sophomore year. My freshman year was where I hit a low point in my life, and my first thought was to return to my faith. After an Awakening retreat that spring semester, I realized God was calling me home. I began a slow movement back towards Him, starting with Bible study, weekly Newman events, and eventually discipleship with one of my fellow students. He invited me to attend SLS20 (FOCUS’ national conference) and go on a mission trip in Spring of 2020, and, even in the midst of a worldwide quarantine, to Summer Projects in Estes Park, CO. I experienced a deep love in community that summer, surrounded my like-minded Catholic college students seeking to place Christ at the center of their lives. I loved it so much that I decided to return the following summer as a student leader in Harbor Springs, MI, where I served on team of 12 missionaries and student leaders. This summer ended up being the most transformative time of my life, where I had great accountability from my team for daily mass and prayer, consistent confession, and mission.

My moment of conviction for living a missionary life came in a short car ride conversation with a fellow student leader, where he posed the question: “What do you need in order to be a missionary?” After tossing out a few options, I came to the conclusion that the only thing needed to be a missionary is an encounter with Christ Himself. That’s it! The training, holiness, Bible study-leading skills, and every other “requirement” hinged on this Truth! After this summer was when I went all-in during my time on campus: I began a Bible study in my fraternity, started a small discipleship group with two other students at Troy, and eventually applied and accepted an offer with FOCUS.

I served on campus for my first three years with FOCUS at Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA. In the summers of 2024 and 2025, I served as a missionary at Summer Projects in Newry, ME and in Big Sky, MT. In those three years on campus and my two summers at SP, God worked so deeply in my heart to remind me of who I am and why I am here in the first place, and now is inviting me even deeper through the work of FOCUS Summer Projects full-time. I chose to join the Summer Projects team because the program had the greatest impact on my life of faith, leading me to become a missionary full-time, and I hope to help create this same impact in the lives of hundreds of students each summer. I would love to share my whole story with you!

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I continue serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment! I’d be honored to share this mission of Summer Projects with you.
