Where I serve

I am a first-year missionary currently serving at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) in Philadelphia.

My Story

I have been blessed to grow up as a cradle Catholic, receiving the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation. At the time of each milestone, I didn’t fully grasp their significance. I grew up Catholic, but I didn’t have a personal relationship with the faith or with Jesus. For much of my life, I knew of God, but I didn’t truly know His heart or His love.

My journey back to the Catholic faith began in high school during an ACTS retreat and truly blossomed during my second semester of freshman year at The University of Texas at Austin. The Catholic Center at UT quickly became my home. During that time, I was also involved in the Schoenstatt movement in Austin. While I attended Bible studies, I didn’t encounter the mission of FOCUS until graduate school.

While studying at Columbia University in New York City, I was introduced to FOCUS and began to learn more about their mission. It was there that I heard God calling me to be a part of this mission, and I decided to apply. Although I wasn’t certain FOCUS was the next step for me, I chose to follow where God was leading me, and I eventually became a first-year missionary.

Since my time at UT Austin, I’ve come to understand the call to intentional friendship with those around me. It’s hard to express in words the transformation I’ve experienced through my growing faith, but I knew my life would never be the same from the moment I first stepped inside the Catholic Center freshman year.

During my time in FOCUS, I hope to be used as an instrument to help others encounter the heart of God.
