We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hi! My name is Colin Keane. I am a FOCUS Missionary
“Remember not the events of the past, the things of long ago consider not; See I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”
Isiah 43:18
I am a first-year missionary serving at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV! I am excited to be in this beautiful little part of the country bringing the good news of God’s love to the students on campus. I am looking forward to the game days, hiking trails and encountering students through it all.
I grew up in a Catholic household going to Catholic schools all the way through High School. So, the importance of the Catholic faith had been instilled in me since a young age. However, once life started to get difficult in High School, I started looking for answers. I was craving something to fall back on, to point at and say “this is why my life is worth it.” I wanted something that transcended the daily grind of classes, homework and practices and could give me a sense of peace amidst these things. I started to seek out how God was being active in my life, but I got distracted by the allurements offered by the world and a life of sin. So the flame of life that had started in me was slowly being snuffed out. As I went down this path I was becoming more and more isolated while my need for genuine relationship was becoming greater and greater.
Eventually, I got sick of the feeling of pursuing these sinful tendencies and wanted to turn back to that true sense of peace and meaning that I experienced earlier in life. In college it became clear the reality of God and His desire to have a personal, everyday relationship with me. I learned of His mercy and His desire for me to shed my former way of life and take up a new life in Him. All it takes is the desire to start anew and God will give you the grace!
I have never connected more personally with a cause than I do with the mission of FOCUS. There are students out there that need to hear the Truth of the Gospel and to understand that God loves them and has a tremendous plan of greatness for them. The next generation needs men and women who realize their capacity for greatness and I will not cease spreading the Good News!
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
