Connor Maly

Hey! My name is Connor Maly, and I serve as a Philanthropy Engagement Officer on the FOCUS Mission Development Team.

Where I serve

I work remotely from Lincoln, Nebraska, but the work I do reaches the entire world. As a Philanthropy Engagement Officer, I use my gifts of stewardship to connect with our benefactors. Together we provide for the international mission of FOCUS by raising support to train and send our 800+ missionaries to over 200 worldwide college campuses, parishes, and our annual conference (SEEK).

Our goal is to empower students, alumni, and benefactors to share the Gospel with their family, friends, and local community to change the world for Christ.

My Story

Born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska as the eldest of two brothers, I was pretty well off growing up. I had a caring family, good friends, an excellent Catholic education, and was gifted intellectually and athletically. Most things came easily to me, which I thought was great until I realized the one thing that I didn’t have; a relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. I had spent all of my years in high school and my freshman year in college relying on my own skills and talents to get me where I wanted to go, and when I wanted to get there, so I could be respected and praised by all those around me. I spent so much time and energy caring about how I looked to others and what I could accomplish, that I left my relationship with God on the back-burner and just went through the motions every Sunday at church.

Things changed pretty quickly midway through my sophomore year. I was introduced to some of the FOCUS missionaries at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. They met me where I was, and invited me to take baby steps to grow in my relationship with Jesus. Of course I resisted heavily, still trying to grasp for control, but eventually, I found myself at the SEEK conference in San Antonio, Texas. It was at that conference that I encountered the powerful love of Jesus during a night of adoration that completely changed my life. The Lord affirmed me of His incredible love for me, and that His love was not contingent on the things I did or how I looked to others. He simply loved me for existing.

From that moment forward, I realized my only purpose in this life is to be the saint that God called me to be and to help bring others into a personal relationship with Christ and His Church. It is for that reason that I joined FOCUS. I want nothing more than to run along the path to sainthood with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ!

I currently live in Lincoln, Nebraska with my wife Erinn and my son Isaiah.

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who are journeying with me as I serve on campus. I love this quote from St. Theresa of Calcutta on mission. “Some give by going and some go by giving; without both, there is no mission.”  If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you!
