We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Greetings! My name is David and I’m a FOCUS missionary serving at Doane University with the BOSCO project!
“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20: 35)
This year I’ll be serving at Doane University in the great state of Nebraska with the BOSCO project! I always laugh at the fact that I was placed here because I am from a suburb of Chicago and went to University of Iowa. So, I was hoping for a change of scenery, but I think that’s God’s way of saying “relax and enjoy what I have made”!
For so long I have been looking for the Lord’s peace, and now (somehow) I have found it following, discipling in the name of, and worshipping God here in Nebraska!
I am ready to go forth and “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19), and I am so grateful that I get to do that because of people like you supporting me. LET’S GO SET THE WORLD ON FIRE FOR JESUS CHRIST TOGETHER!
I always knew who God was, and I always knew that you were supposed to go to mass every Sunday. However, I never really knew who God was personally, and I never really knew why I was Catholic. It’s because I lacked relationship with Him.
Thanks to the FOCUS missionaries at the University of Iowa, I was transformed into a true lover of Christ my senior year. I became a witness to what Jesus can really do for someone who truly loves Him and follows Him. God has given me everything. Jesus came and found me when I had no one else looking for me, and because of the love He showed me, I now want to share His love with the whole world EVERYDAY!
I became a missionary because I truly believe this is God’s calling for me. Through this journey, I have found a loving community, deepened my relationship with Christ, and felt the Holy Spirit guiding me every step of the way. As I embark on this mission, I pray that, by God’s grace, my efforts will bear abundant fruit and bring many souls to Christ! Your support is crucial because it enables God’s work to flourish through this mission. Together, we can spread His light and hope to those in need today!
It means EVERYTHING!
Your support helps me focus (pun intended) on my job as a servant of God by providing the financial support needed to cover my food, water, shelter, and any other basic necessities.
This truly allows me to dedicate every waking hour of my job to reaching out to college students on and off campus, bringing people into our brotherhood to enjoy bible studies, opportunities to grow in formation with our brothers, develop a prayer life, and even outreach to the imprisoned.
I’ll be living with eleven other Catholic men doing the exact same job as me so we will be going on this journey together. This is the brotherhood that Jesus created two-thousand years ago, and with the power of the Holy Spirit, twelve men set out ready to set the world on fire. This is the continuation of Jesus’ great commission. This is only possible because of your support.
IT MEANS EVERYTHING! To us and God!
“Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” (Hebrews 13: 15-16)
I am willing to sacrifice everyday of my life, God willing, if it meant I get to share the love and peace God has given me. If that pleases God, then I have no choice but to follow the path He has laid before me. Supporting me as a missionary is a way for you to do the same. I will go on mission to be there physically, while you support the mission financially and with prayers. Doing so, ensures that God’s will is done and souls are saved!
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
