We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hi! My name is Diana, and I am a FOCUS missionary at UTRGV!
“Life with Christ is a Wonderful Adventure.”
– St. Pope John Paul II
Together with my team, I am excited to answer the call to serve the students at the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley!
UTRGV Team: Armando, Darien, Diana (me!), Isabel, Andrez
Growing up as a cradle Catholic, my faith journey began early. I faithfully attended Mass every Sunday, received the sacraments, and was immersed in the traditions and teachings of the Catholic Church. My childhood and adolescence were deeply rooted in Catholic values, which provided a solid foundation for my faith.
However, when I entered college, my priorities began to shift. I was driven by a strong desire to fit in and build what I perceived as the perfect relationships. Searching for acceptance and belonging, I often found myself straying from the deep faith I had grown up with.
Despite this, I was drawn to the Catholic community on campus. Initially, it was just a way to stay connected to my roots, but it became much more. The more time I spent with other Catholic students, the more I felt a calling to experience a deeper and more profound encounter with Jesus. It was no longer enough to simply go through the motions; I wanted a personal and transformative relationship with Christ.
This desire led me to surrender my brokenness and vulnerabilities. In doing so, I opened myself up to the grace that God offers to each of us. It was through this surrender that I truly began to understand the depth of God’s love and mercy. My college years became a time of spiritual renewal and growth, as I discovered that my imperfections were not obstacles, but rather channels for experiencing God’s boundless grace.
As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to Christ. My life has been profoundly transformed by Jesus, and I am excited to share this joy with others. Many years ago, Jesus became a man to take on our humanity and live among us. At the beginning of His ministry, He sought out close friends, investing deeply in them; these friends became His Apostles. Following Jesus’s example, I strive to invest deeply in new people, fostering close friendships rooted in faith. My mission is not just to teach but to grow alongside them, deepening our collective relationship with Christ.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. Time and time again, God has shown how he provides for his people; how awesome would it be to allow God to provide through you! If you are interested in partnering with me for the mission to reach souls for Jesus, please contact me; I would love to schedule an appointment. It would be an honor to answer this calling with you.
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
