Hey! My name’s Emily. I’m a FOCUS missionary at Central Michigan University!

Where I serve

God has called me to serve college students at Central Michigan University! FOCUS is returning to this campus for the first time in several years, and I can’t wait to be a Chippewa! You’ll typically find me hanging out at the Newman Center, playing sports with students, or walking around campus meeting new people. If you ever want to know more about my story or what I do, I’d love to grab a coffee with you! 🙂

My Story

As a student at Iowa State University, I encountered the Lord in a profound way at the FOCUS SEEK conference as a freshman. Before this conference, I was consistently seeking affirmation and belonging in the people around me. But it never seemed to satisfy the longing I had. At SEEK, I began to understand the intimate relationship He desired with me, and how He demonstrates that to me through the Gospel. Despite many ups and downs throughout college in my relationship with Him, He continued to pursue me through the sacraments and many wonderful friendships, including those of some FOCUS missionaries on campus. Understanding the way that the Lord desires us all to find our deepest sense of our identity in Him and then live out of that to pursue others in mission has changed my life! As a senior at Iowa State, I was able to invest in a few other women, and as I began to watch their lives change, I was able to see a bit how the Lord sees us. In His ministry on earth, Jesus humbled Himself to meet us on our level, taking on our humanity, and spent most of His time investing deeply in a few. I look to Jesus’ own example to find the best method of reaching the world. I can’t wait to encounter those students who the Lord wants to grow with on campus!
