Hi y’all! My name is Erin and I’m a first-year missionary with FOCUS!

Where I serve

God has called me to FOCUS and I am blessed to be serving as a first-year missionary at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Go Chargers!

My Story

Growing up, I was blessed to attend Catholic school and receive the sacraments at their respected times. While I am extremely grateful for this solid foundation and the values my Catholic education provided, my true understanding of the faith was shallow; it was as if I was going through the motions without grasping the profound significance and importance of them. The teachings and actions were familiar, but they felt more like obligations than sources of spiritual nourishment.

Everything changed during my senior year at East Carolina University. One Sunday the Holy Spirit moved me to attend a Sunday mass spur of the moment at the local parish in Greenville, which was where I first encountered the FOCUS missionaries. Soon after I was introduced to the Newman Center and almost immediately joined a bible study. It was here that I encountered Jesus in a transformative way. Through the inviting community, genuine support, and authentic relationships with fellow students, I began to understand the depths of God’s love and the beauty of the Catholic faith. My heart was set on fire with the newfound understanding of Catholicism, leading to a profound reversion and a deeply rooted relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Lord has since transformed my life in ways I would never have imagined. My faith is now the cornerstone of my existence, guiding all of my decisions and shaping my identity. Daily mass, prayer, and consistent participation in the sacraments have become crucial parts of my life. This profound reversion has filled me with joy, purpose, and a burning desire to share the love of Jesus with others. My journey this past year has been nothing short of miraculous, and I am forever grateful for the relationships that led me to the heart of the Catholic faith.

Your Impact

When I accepted the Lord’s call to serve as a FOCUS missionary, I also accepted to fully rely on God to provide for me both financially and spiritually through the generosity and sacrifice of my mission partners. It is by God and monthly mission partners that I am able to fully dedicate my time to sharing the Gospel with college students. Your support not only sustains my call to mission but also strengthens my faith by serving as a daily reminder of our shared commitment and trust in making a meaningful impact together.
