Hello! My name is Eve Walker and I am from small town Dieterich, IL. I attended college at Eastern Illinois University and now have the privilege to serve the campus with FOCUS as we expand to Charleston 🙂

My Story

I had the privilege to grow up in a very strong Catholic community and my love of the church was encouraged. I thoroughly enjoyed being involved in religious education, youth ministry, and parish events when I was young, but it was not until college that I was able to take ownership of my faith.

Being involved at the EIU Newman Center instilled in me a great desire to serve. I spent my four years at the university on the leadership team for the students and enjoyed being a part of such a loving, faith-filled community. I also was able to take “Catholic Scholars” courses through the Newman center which was only made possible by a generous donor. I graduated with a bachelor’s in health sciences and a minor in aging studies in the summer of 2024 and have been working at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital ever since. I spent a few months in the Women’s Health Clinic but then transferred to the Hospice House where I worked as a CNA.

I felt very honored to work with my patients and was not looking for different options when the Lord put the call to mission on my heart. My fiance, Aiden, will be attending Eastern Illinois University as a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in clinical counseling. We will be getting married on August 9, 2025 and I am very excited to stay in Charleston, IL while he pursues his degree. Once it was decided that FOCUS would be expanding to EIU, I was honored with an invitation to mission and I said yes! I am overjoyed to stay in this amazing community and look forward to sharing God’s love with the help of such an impactful program.
