We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
The world offers you comfort. But you were not made for comfort. You were made for greatness. ~ Pope Benedict XVI
God has called me to serve college students at the University of North Dakota with my new team (pictured below)! Go Hawks! About an hour from the Canadian boarder, UND is known for hockey and a -60 degree windchill. It is an adventure I am looking forward to!
I have a pretty cool story about how Jesus has changed my life — I think you should hear it sometime! Come find me and I’d love to share it with you. 🙂
When I transferred into Boise State, I was chasing a degree to find a good job to make great money to be successful. However, I had the wrong idea of success. I was chasing something that would never fulfill my heart.
Thankfully, I found St. Paul’s catholic student center, and I was welcomed with open arms. I was invited to join a FOCUS bible study, and it was here I grew in faith and friendship. A FOCUS missionary and I started meeting once a week to dive deeper into prayer and life with Christ. Through these discussions, she called me to live higher and prioritize my relationship with Christ over the comforts of the world.
In a moment of courage, I signed-up to go on a FOCUS mission trip to Ecuador. It was here that I encountered the most joyful people I have ever met. They had little possessions and humble homes, but they had a radiating happiness for which I thirsted. It was here that, yet again, a missionary called me higher by asking me a simple question: “Hannah, are you working to live or living to work?” This question hit me hard because I realized that as much as I though I was prioritizing Christ in my life, the reality was I was not. Through this trip, I knew nothing in this world could make me happy and no amount of worldly success could bring me joy. Only Jesus Christ could satisfy my thirst and gift me lasting joy.
Now as a missionary, I wish to call others higher like focus missionaries did to me, so that others may encounter and know Christ. Worldly things give comfort, but Christ bestows greatness.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
