We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hi! My name is Henry Frobom & I’m a FOCUS Missionary!
“He does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.”— C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
This year I will be a first-year missionary serving alongside a great team at the University of California, Berkeley (Cal, UC Berkeley). I’m ecstatic to share the Lord and walk with students in the Bay Area. Go Bears!
Being raised a cradle Catholic, I did what I thought were the “Catholic” things to do. I went to a Catholic school, Mass, and was an active altar server. After moving to Arizona after the first half of my life in Nebraska, I continued to do altar serve and go to Mass through high school. I had what I would describe as a servant’s heart but not a son’s heart as I never really knew the Lᴏʀᴅ. By the time I got to college, I though God was this impersonal, distant, punishing God who didn’t care about me. But my life would be changed as I encountered the Lᴏʀᴅ through His Scriptures in a Bible study with the Navigators. The Lᴏʀᴅ ignited the fire of my heart for His engulfing love through my time with the Navigators and pulled me closer to His loving gaze through the Newman Center at the University of Arizona during my sophomore and junior years. During my senior year, I was introduced to FOCUS and a great team of missionaries who He used to continue pulling me into His loving gaze and my identity as His beloved son. I was challenged not to earn God’s love, but to lovingly accept His fatherly tenderness and mercy through the sacraments and Eucharistic adoration. This led to me deeply encountering the Lᴏʀᴅ as SEEK24 where I felt Him call me to serve as a FOCUS Missionary. Through this, He continues to sanctify me and let me trust my entire life to His love as I get to share that same love with students.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lᴏʀᴅ. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help us through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
