We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hey! My name’s Hunter. I’m a FOCUS missionary serving at the University of Oregon!
God has called me to serve college students at the University of Oregon, GO DUCKS! You’ll typically find me hanging out at the Rec Center, the Newman Center, playing/watching sports with students, or just having conversations with students at the university union. I have a pretty cool story about how I came to know God. I’d love to share it with you!
I was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia the second of four kids (See the family photo below!) As a kid, my family went to church every Sunday as well as going to events at church during the week. Although, as the years went on, my family s involvement in our parish slowly diminished.
Going into college, I knew that I wanted to reignite my church-going habits, but I was not expecting the transformation that occurred. During my time at Northern Arizona University, I was invested in deeply by other students and the FOCUS missionaries there. Slowly but surely, I grew to know the goodness of God. I developed a daily prayer life, lead a bible study for 3 years, and began to assist others in starting their own relationship with God (below you can see Lucas and Zach, two men I was walking with @ NAU). I was growing more and more into what God desires for all of us to be, a missionary disciple.
With this molding of my identity, I found an ever-growing desire to serve as a missionary through FOCUS. I realized this great desire to help students in their path to holiness, just as I was helped by missionaries as an undergrad. To put it simply, I know that there is no better manner or time in a person s life to introduce them to having a relationship with Jesus. College is a pivotal time of life where teens are now thrown into living life independently. It is at this junction that students now have a completely free choice as to whether they want to go to church or not. One thing that I have learned from my own story is that this choice can radically change a person s life, and I hope to help others know what life is like with God at the center.
As a mission partner, you are vital to the success of this ministry. Without your support, so many lost, young souls will continue to be astray on Oregon’s campus. By supporting me, YOU will be reaching these students. YOU will be providing the means by which these students will encounter the goodness that the Lord has brought into this world. If this is a mission you believe to be as important as I do, please reach out to me, so I can tell you even more about it!

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
