Hello! My name’s Joanna and I’m a FOCUS missionary.

Where I serve

I have the honor of serving as the Director of Internal Communications at our Denver Support Center. I serve our campus, regional and Denver Support Center staff by streamlining all communication they receive so they can be free to serve this mission! For our campus missionaries, especially, we want to make sure they can be free to lead Bible studies, share the Gospel, and spend radical time with college students as much as possible.

My Story

As an undergraduate student at Loras College, my life was significantly impacted by two FOCUS missionaries: Lisa and Katie. They showed me that living a life for Christ was relevant and joyful, and I wanted the same joy they had. While I had an incredible foundation of faith laid in my childhood and throughout high school, I came to know Christ deeply and more personally during college, and after that, my life was never the same.

I answered the call to serve with FOCUS in 2010 after nearly two years of working in the marketing field outside of Chicago right after college graduation. I had the honor of serving four years on campus: my first year at Bradley University and three years at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

In May of 2014 I joined our national FOCUS efforts in Denver as the National Manager of FOCUS Greek, an intentional effort within our organization to reach and serve those in fraternities and sororities. I served in that role for seven years working with more than 200 Greek staff and seeing the Lord transform the lives of thousands of students in the Greek system, before making the switch to my current role in June of 2021.
