We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hey y’all! I’m John and I’m a fourth-year FOCUS missionary at Columbia University.
The Lord has called me to serve Him and His Church at Columbia University in New York City. After spending my first year at MIT and the last two at NYU, I am so excited to continue on mission in Manhattan, a place that so desperately needs to hear the life-giving news of the Gospel. Most days you’ll find me on campus leading Bible study at the Merton Institute, grabbing coffee in Morningside Heights, or exploring the city with students and my teammates.
I grew up in a small town in southeast Texas, where I was very involved in diocesan and parish youth ministry, but it wasn’t until I went to a Catholic school for college that I began to understand how our faith necessitates both a desire for learning about Christ and his Church as well as a longing to know him personally. The Lord had placed a desire on my heart to share what I had received with others, so when FOCUS missionaries came to my campus during my senior year, I knew almost immediately that I wanted to live like them. Through their friendship and example, I was inspired to join them on mission as a FOCUS Missionary myself so that I could participate more fully in the fulfillment of Christ’s Great Commission: to go and make disciples of all nations! I do not plan to stop until every single heart is brought back to His!
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed to have some of the most amazing, generous people join me on this mission through their financial and spiritual support. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know what the best way to reach you is and I will schedule an appointment to talk with you. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
