We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
I am a missionary at FOCUS (Fellowship Of Catholic University Students)! I will be serving college students to help them discover and rediscover the healing work of Jesus Christ. This work involves walking with students as we grow together in a deep relationship with Christ and experience real healing.
Starting in August, my mission is to serve at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. By bringing the Gospel to students and working with them, I hope to help others recognize they are loved by a God who deeply desires to walk with them. Arguably, a simple reminder that you are not alone can completely transform a person’s life. I hope to use my mission to remind students that God simply wishes to embrace them and bring them to Himself.
I was raised Episcopalian and after the loss of several family members, was made to realize the importance of trusting in God and His plan for us. Through the Dominican Sisters of Nashville I was encouraged to pursue a deep relationship with Jesus through the Catholic Church. I took them up on it and never looked back. Through the Catholic Church, I have never had a deeper relationship with Christ, the Divine Physician, and with those around me.
Attending public school, then attending Union University, a Baptist University, allowed my faith to be constantly tested. This only made me grow more sure and confident in my faith. I had so much joy talking with people of other beliefs and denominations. It forced me to “have a reason for the hope that is in you,” as St. Peter states (1 Peter: 3:15).
After a monk from Clear Creek Abbey in Oklahoma suggested I look into FOCUS, I realized this mission was everything I was looking for. It enabled me to use all the gifts and skills God had given to me from this point forward. FOCUS’ mission statement is to know Christ Jesus and fulfill His great commission. Thus, God has called me to love Him, and from the fruits of that love to go out and love others so that they recognize Christ never abandons them or leaves them alone.
With FOCUS, we are asked to live as the apostles were in Scripture, carrying nothing (Luke 9:3) but relying on the support of others (1 Corinthians 9:9-14, Philippians 4:14-19). Relying on your spiritual and financial support, I can devote my life to full time ministry. Likewise, through your support, you will be a co-missionary with me. My work is yours. Thus, FOCUS calls our supporters “mission partners.” If you are interested in joining me in the mission field, please don’t hesitate to reach out. It would be my honor to have you join on my mission.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
