We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
I will be serving my second year on staff at the University of California – Los Angeles.
I came to know FOCUS during the summer of my freshman year of college when a group of missionaries and students came to my hometown of Miri, Malaysia for a mission trip. It was the first time that I saw young people who were radiant and who seemed to be alive with genuine joy. It was clear that the source of their contentment was in their relationship with Jesus Christ; a relationship I thought I already knew of and had by then.
Stephanie Shipley, one of the missionaries on the mission trip, continued to keep in touch with me (while living on opposite sides of the world) and taught me how to dive deeper into my relationship with the Lord while also teaching me how to share the faith with those around me. It was through friends like Steph and other FOCUS missionaries who have loved me and showed me how to live our Catholic faith in a joyful and giving way by seeking first our Lord in prayer and in the sacraments. The treasure I have found in God’s love and mercy has given me this zeal to share it with others. As the people in my life have pointed me to Jesus, I felt God calling me to leave my home country of Malaysia to be a missionary with FOCUS so others too may come to know Him.

I am not able to do this mission alone. Christ, who is life, is asking each of us to leave a mark that brings life to our own history and that of many others. When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’d be honored to have you join this mission with me! You can reach me at 714-305-9469 or [email protected]

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
