Hi! I’m Julia Lopez, this year I will serve as a missionary for Campus Worcester, it is a team that serves 6 universities in Worcester, Massachusettes. The campuses are: Anna Maria College, Clark University, College of the Holy Cross, Quinsigamond Community College, Worcester State Univeristy, and Assumption University; where I served last year.

I am thrilled for the opportunity not only to serve the students at Assumption University whom I’ve grown to love, but also new students at these other campuses!

I’m from South Central Texas, a part of the state that is quite Catholic. I grew up Catholic my whole life, but I went through the motions and when I reached college, I left the faith. Then one day in college at the University of North Texas (GMG!), I was invited to a FOCUS conference. I saw thousands of college students pursuing a relationship with Jesus. Then, my heart had a longing, I wanted that same relationship.  

I realized how lost I was in college, and the “college experience” wasn’t satisfying. I came back from the conference with a new desire, to pursue a relationship with Jesus. I reached out to a dear college friend, Morgan, and asked her to guide me into a deeper relationship with Jesus.  

As I continued my faith journey in college with Morgan, I realized how important it was for me to have a personal relationship with Jesus, and how it could be vital for other college students. Life became more fulfilling when I put Christ at the center. I continue to have my ups and downs in my faith, but I remembered how empty I felt when I started college, and I could only imagine how other students felt. I knew I couldn’t keep my relationship with Jesus for myself, I had to share what life could look like if they let Him in.

This quote has given me so much joy, because God has put the desire in my heart to help make Himself known to other college students. Now, I have been blessed with the opportunity to help students have a relationship with Jesus and fill their hearts with the love of Christ.
