We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
“Many more began to believe in him because of his word, and they said to the woman, ‘We no longer believe because of your word; for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is truly the savior of the world.’”
John 4:41-42
I am a second year missionary at Arizona State University, turning sun devils into saints! In the past, I served at Boise State University for the fall semester of 2023. After my graduation that December I moved to Tempe to serve at ASU.

Growing up, love was constantly poured out to me by my family, neighbors, and friends. But when I moved away to Boise State University, away from the comforts and familiarity of home, my insecurities and failings were truly exposed. I realized I didn’t know God personally nor was my identity grounded fully in Him. My life became infested with lies like “I am not enough” and “I am unseen”. I tried coping with this in many ways, but everything I did to “fix” my problems brought me right back to the emptiness, loneliness, and confusion I was feeling. It wasn’t until I encountered Christ on a much deeper level on a FOCUS mission trip to Argentina that I realized the only cure to my emptiness was Christ. In humility my eyes were opened to the fact that even I, who grew up with so many blessings and a “picture perfect” childhood, needed a savior. I couldn’t save myself.
The FOCUS missionaries on my campus played a huge role in this transformation by inviting me into Bible studies, befriending me, investing in me, and even inviting me on the mission trips I served on. I remember how insecure and lonely I was for most of college and, because of that I want to help women live in truth and freedom. The verse above from John 4 reflects my own feelings. The woman at the well testified about Christ to the town and they soon came to believe not because of her testimony alone, but because they experienced Christ firsthand. I can’t wait to form so many lifegiving friendships with the women I encounter, but ultimately I am just pointing them to Christ so that they might encounter His infinite, immense love for themselves.
God has loved us into existence and is constantly loving us. He is so good that he made us find fulfillment, not in earning others respect or making a name for ourselves, but in simply loving and letting Him love us!
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. That means I need you! While some are called to go on mission on “the front lines”, others go by giving. Ultimately we must all work together with God to fulfill the Great Commission. By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
