I give all glory to God and thanksgiving for Him allowing me to enter into my 4th year with FOCUS. This year I will be serving as Program Director for the North Area as well as continuing to serve as a part time missionary on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis. 

During my time serving with FOCUS, I served two years as a missionary at Ball State University, one year as the Team Director at IUPUI, and I am entering my 4th year in a hybrid roll to serve FOCUS nationally in the Program Director roll while continuing to serve the campus ministry at IUPUI. My role as a  Program Director in the North area will allow me to serve the regional directors and missionaries on 38 campuses. This role broadens the title of “missionary” for me as I am able to serve on a personal level at IUPUI as well as on a national level to help the Gospel be spread throughout the country by aiding the administrative efforts of FOCUS. 

Thanks to my amazing mother’s faith, Jesus has always been present in my life. I was raised in a Catholic family while attending Catholic school since pre-school. Belief in God came naturally to me as I was trying to make sense of the brokenness around me; God always seems to be the stillness I needed as a Child. I remember from an early age my draw to the beautiful image of family life that the Holy Family embodies for us. 

As I grew up, my faith in God never wavered. However, the distractions of life often drew my attention away from Him. I fell into many perfectionistic tendencies and as high school and college drew near I desired to find my own identity away from God. I simultaneously lived the double life of a straight “A,” well behaved student and also the party girl who everyone liked. I wanted more for my life than the success that the world had to offer. 

I graduated from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN as the Valedictorian of my class and had accepted a job offer in Washington D.C. In this time of success that the world told me would make me happy, I never felt so empty. My friends encouraged me to seek out my faith in a more serious capacity and consider missionary work. 

During my time as a missionary, God has not only transformed the lives of students around me, but he has also transformed my own heart. I have seen so many students walk away from lives of sin, place Jesus at the center of their lives, and desire to share Christ with others. I have seen Jesus change my own life in this same manner. 

Jesus has shown me just how much he loves us through his saving act on the Cross. Each year on mission, Jesus has invited me to pray with a wound from his Passion. This past year Jesus invited me tomeditate on the wound in His most Sacred Heart. His heart beats and bleeds for us. He desires His flock to be brought back to His father. Praying with the heart of Christ has helped me to see how His scattered flock are hurting and scared. College students today are hurting, lost,and confused. Thank you for helping me bring students back to the Heart of Christ and ultimately back into a relationship with the Father.

As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to Christ. My life has been transformed by Jesus and I want nothing more than to bring this joy to others and introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel. In His ministry on earth, Jesus humbled Himself to meet us on our level, taking on our humanity, and spent most of His time investing deeply in a few. I look to Jesus’ own example to find the best method of reaching the world. I’ve been constantly amazed by the different souls I’ve encountered on campus.

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus.
