We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hey! My name’s Kip. I’m a FOCUS missionary.
Do not be afraid. Do not be satisfied with mediocrity. Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch. -Pope Saint John Paul II
God has called me to serve college students for my sixth year as the Team Director in Columbia, MO at the University of Missouri. Go Mizzou and go Tigers!
For the majority of my college career, I lived what I now call a life of complacent Catholicism. While I was still attending Sunday mass and confession regularly, I was just going through the motions. Every year I was asked to join bible studies and used the excuse that I was just too busy with class and athletics. In my senior year I was invited to SEEK2019 and that is where I truly saw the faith alive. Thousands of other college students my own age were pursuing the faith with their whole heart. Between the sacraments, the speakers, and the fellowship, I felt the call to a deeper conversion. I needed to make a change if I was going to fully live out what it means to be a Catholic. I signed up for a bible study and a mission trip before I got home and was ready to attack the new semester.
Shane, a FOCUS missionary, was a December graduate and was placed at Indiana University where I was a student. He was new to the community and I was looking for people to pursue Christ with so it made for a fast friendship. He invested deeply in me and showed me that I not only desired holy friendships but preferred them. At this point, I had already signed a job offer and was graduating from the Kelley School of Business. However, Shane encouraged me to apply to become a missionary. It was a radical decision to leave my job behind and run after the Lord but I couldn’t be happier with my decision.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
