God has called me to serve college students at James Madison University (Go Dukes) as a Team Director. You’ll typically find me hanging out at the university cafe, the Newman Center, or high-fiving people around campus. I have a pretty cool story about how Jesus has changed my life — I think you should hear it sometime! Come find me and I’d love to share it with you. 🙂

I had no intention of pursuing Christ or His Church in college. I quickly busied myself with clubs and spending time with friends. Soon my friend group started falling apart and I was restless and unhappy. I had never lost my belief of God s existence but that belief didn t manifest in my life. *Enter the University of Washington Catholic Newman Center. Some friends invited me to the freshman group and I had found something new; I found Christ and students pursuing good. Through key authentic friendships, I was given the opportunity to grow my faith and choose Jesus. Once I surrendered myself to Jesus, He recreated me and gifted me with abundant joy and purpose in life.

In the winter of my Junior year I attended the Student Leadership Summit hosted by FOCUS. This was my first experience of FOCUS and it gave me tools to bring others to Christ. An image came into my mind on my flight home from the conference: our Newman Center on fire with the Spirit, bringing many more souls to Christ and this image inspired me to join leadership within ministry.

In my senior year I began fulfilling this vision through Peer Ministry. I wanted others to have an experience of Christ s love through me. It was then a natural transition to desire to be a FOCUS missionary, however it didn t quite work out right away. Fast forward to November after graduation and I interviewed with FOCUS for a second time. During this single weekend, the Lord romanced my soul once again and showed me the desire of my heart to be a missionary which I had put on the back burner. He also showed me the fears that threatened to hold me back. I gave the Lord my Yes with Mary s fiat as my inspiration. I hope as a FOCUS missionary I can continue to bring souls to Christ through friendship, just as my soul was brought to him through others.

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus.
