We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hello! I’m Luke and I’m a FOCUS missionary working as a Senior Manager with the Bosco Project.
After five years on a traditional FOCUS campus – two at Ball State, three at the University of Iowa – and two as an in-house Team Director with Bosco Project, I now serve at the Denver Support Center as a Senior Manager of the Bosco Project.
While studying mechanical engineering at the University of Maryland, missionary life was not on the table. Through a Christ-centered group of friends, the Lord began to show me the powerful ways He had been working in my life up to that point: involvement in YoungLife, discussing who Jesus is with my fraternity brothers, and leading Bible study, to name a few. With 3 job offers on the table, I interviewed to be a missionary with FOCUS. At the end of my senior year, I finally accepted the opportunity to be a FOCUS Missionary. This life is the most impactful and formative commitment to knowing the Lord and making Him known I could imagine. From Maryland, to Ball State, then Iowa, on to Nebraska, and now Denver: I’ve witnessed how God has worked, is working, and will continue to work in the lives of young men on and off college campuses!
With the support of my mission partners over the past seven years, we have:
Walked with 4 men to discern and enter seminary to become priests
Accompanied 10 men to interview to be a FOCUS Missionary
Traveled alongside 40 students on life-changing mission trips
Led 430+ students to encounter Jesus at SEEK, our national conference
Studied scripture with 100+ men in weekly Bible studies
Organized 8 “Freedom Project” retreats over 4 years with 100+ different missionaries
Lived with, formed, and directed 23 first-year missionaries during their time as Bosco Participants
Now, I’m entering my eighth year with FOCUS, transitioning to a manager role in Denver where I will support our in-house formators, equip our 41 Bosco participant alumni, and continue to creatively grow the Bosco Project.
This year, our team seeks to establish a foundation of leadership and structure that will allow for expansion of the Bosco Project nationally. Our work in Denver, Nebraska, and Chicago has led to 41 FOCUS missionaries currently serving around the country who spent 6-12 months in the Bosco Project. These young men have allowed FOCUS to expand to 20+ colleges/universities that otherwise would not have a FOCUS team sharing the Gospel on campus. We are excited to welcome 15 new Bosco Participants this year. Please pray for the Bosco men in formation, the in-house formators, and our efforts to expand and grow!

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
