We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hey! My name’s Maddie. I’m a FOCUS missionary at LSU. Geaux Tigers!
“It is Jesus that you seek when you dream of happiness; He is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you…it is He who provoked in you that thirst for fullness that will not let you settle for compromise…”
— St. Pope John Paul II
God has called me to serve college students at Louisiana State University!
I serve as a Greek missionary, which means that I spend most of my time women who are in sororities at LSU. You can find me at the Catholic student center, at a coffee shop in Baton Rouge, or probably enjoying a walk around LSU’s campus.
I began my college journey at The University of Southern Mississippi hoping to find real friendship, which led me to sign up for sorority recruitment. I joined Chi Omega and soon accepted an invitation to join a Bible study led by Kate, my chapter’s president at the time. That Bible study my freshman year led to a friendship with Kate which changed the trajectory of my faith and of my life! Kate showed me authentic friendship in a way I had never experienced, and she showed me the joy and abundant life that was possible in knowing Jesus.
“I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
Throughout my time in college, a handful of students and missionaries mentored me in my faith, helping me to place Jesus at the center of my life through a life of prayer, the Sacraments, and fellowship with other Christians. I was equipped to go forth and share this abundant life with others as a missionary disciple. I did not know the riches of the Catholic faith and the joy of knowing Jesus until my experience of friendship with Kate and many others at USM; my life will never be the same because of it.
It is the greatest joy and privilege as a missionary to help young people come to deeper knowledge of Jesus’s love and mercy and enter into a personal relationship with Him. My hope is to meet women where they are at and lead them to Jesus, because I wouldn’t be where I am today without my sisters in Chi Omega, as well as the students and missionaries who allowed God to work through them and transform my life.
When I accepted God’s invitation to become a FOCUS missionary, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. Your support is truly changing lives! If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you!
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
