I’m so excited to be serving the incredible people at South Dakota State University for a second year! God has transformed my life in some pretty radical ways, I would love to meet you and share that story. And I would love even more to hear your story, so come say hi!

God is a loving Father. So much of my story begins and ends with this life-changing reality.

Growing up a faithful Catholic, I thought I had everything figured out by myself. That was until my later high school years when I began to realize I was simply going through the motions of knowing the Lord. This brought me to a decisive moment where, as I was longing to encounter Jesus, I experienced a radical encounter with God’s living and personal love for me in the Eucharist. A fire was kindled in my heart to serve and love Jesus evermore that day. But I was missing one crucial component for success: faithful community to support me.

I struggled to live my faith fully and joyfully until I attended the University of Mary for college. Thanks be to God, I was able to form deep, Christian friendships through joining a FOCUS Bible study. Slowly, my Bible study leader challenged me to take step after step to grow in divine intimacy through prayer and the sacraments. Throughout my time in college, I came to know the person of Jesus Christ and recognize that there is so life apart from Him!

The fire of the Holy Spirit that began to burn in my heart during my junior year of high school has transformed my life. Coming to know the Father’s love for me has brought me deep joy and peace, along with the realization that I am to pour myself out in sharing His love with others. That is why I have said yes to serving on mission with FOCUS: to love others as Christ loves me and invite into life-giving relationship with Him!

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I begin to serve on campus.
