Where I serve

Hello there! My name is Mary Beth, and I’m the team director at Arizona State University. This is my fourth year serving with FOCUS, starting with two years at San Diego State University before moving to Arizona. Please pray for me as I lead my team and continue to serve sorority women at ASU!

My Story

As a missionary, I get to help women deepen their relationship with the Lord. In my time as a student at CU Boulder (sko buffs!) friendship with the FOCUS missionaries and other faithful students was transformational for me. Growing up in a Catholic family and going to Catholic school, I had a solid foundation of faith. What I lacked was an intimate understanding of the God who loves me and formed me for relationship with Him. The women that walked with me at CU taught me how to live out my relationship with Jesus.

As my heart was being changed through relationship with the Lord, I started walking with other women in Greek life to help them do the same. God used me to reach my sorority little, Avery, who had a conversion while we were in college together. I sponsored her in RCIA my senior year, and she got Baptized into the Catholic Church that Easter. It’s a gift to be a godmother!

Our friendship showed me the heart that I have to reach sorority women. God used me to transform Avery’s life, and He used her to set my heart on fire for mission. It was a clear next step to pursue full-time mission work through FOUCS. Now I get to mentor sorority women at ASU and teach them how to lead Bible studies and reach their sisters too. Greek life can be a catylst for the Gospel when members commit themselves to Christ and pursuing virtue!

In saying “yes” to God’s invitation to pursue Him and others through being a missionary with FOCUS, I willingly made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of partners to help me through this mission. I’m blessed to get to cultivate a team of amazing people to journey with me on mission.
