Where I serve
My name is Megan (Meggy) Ahern and I am a FOCUS missionary! This is my third year on staff with FOCUS at the University of Idaho!
My Story
The pivot point in my story began in my early college years at Wichita State University. I had recently transferred schools and moved from New York City where I had been studying Vocal Performance. It was not my first choice to be returning back home, but in hind sight this was the best thing that could’ve happened to me. At this time in my life, I was finding myself increasingly restless and unsatisfied without God as the center of my story. I recognized this thirst for something more, but like the woman at the well, I simply didn’t know where to find the living water. I joined a sorority at WSU, and it was through one of my sorority sisters, that I was introduced to Katie, a FOCUS missionary, and was invited to Katie’s greek bible study. From my very first bible study I was so captivated by the way Katie talked about Jesus, the questions she asked us, and the way she lived her life. It was through her witness and this weekly encounter with Jesus in the living word, that I was drawn to begin to have honest conversation with the Lord in prayer. As Christ began to speak into my story, I recognized that I had found what I had always been looking for. Soon after, I realized I had a growing zeal to share what I had experienced with Jesus to everyone in my life.
As the years have gone by, I have continued to be drawn deeper, discovering places in my heart and life that are still in need of light of the Gospel, and experiencing the joy of life with Christ in countless ways. My mission with FOCUS is to lead college students to the living water, through relationship and an invitation into recognizing their need for God. A heart that is searching for God, is naturally propelled into prayer, and like the woman at the well, will have no response that suffices besides running and proclaiming, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?”. This adventure with the Lord is a story I could have never written for myself, with healing, hardships, and deep joy! It is truly the abundant life. I desire this life for the world and for the students at the University of Idaho!
