We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
I serve at Hope College in Holland Michigan.
When I came to college my freshman year I had no intention of living a Christ-centered life. Soon I realized that what I thought would bring me happiness, didn’t satisfy me. I was living life without joy, closed off to God and what He wanted for me.
Then, in my sophomore year of college, God moved powerfully in my heart and showed me that I needed to change how I was living. I came to campus that fall looking for something more. I found it at Ball State’s Newman Center. There, I met a Focus Missionary who became my friend and walked with me in my faith journey. He showed me what it meant to be a Catholic and to make Jesus the center of my life. Because of the Focus Missionaries at Ball State, my life has changed forever.
It is my great joy that God has called me also to serve full-time as a Focus Missionary. So many college students today are living without hope. I desire to love and accompany these students and call them to a deep and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.
All people on earth desperately need to hear about God’s love for them. By our baptism, all Christians are called to go out and share the good news with others. Jesus has already triumphed over sin and death by his cross and resurrection, now in response, He is calling us to go on mission with Him to save souls. Souls who, if no one goes to them with the Gospel, will spend eternity without God.
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” Matthew 28:18-19
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment with you. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
