We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
“We were not created to lead drab, narrow, or constricted lives, but to live in the wide-open spaces…We have within us an unquenchable need for the absolute and the infinite.” Fr. Jacques Phillipe
Hi! My name is Olivia Hebert. I’m a FOCUS missionary serving at Louisiana State University. Geaux Tigers!
Here, I am primarily working with women who are unaffiliated with Greek life or athletics; through bible studies, discipleship, and friendship, I am teaching these women to invest in a few people so that we can reach the whole LSU campus and eventually, our whole generation.
Here is our LSU Team! We have Josh, Kelley, Fisher, me, Maddie, Chalon, and Sebastian.
Being raised in a Catholic household and attending Catholic school my whole life, I always knew that God was real and good. At a retreat in eighth grade, God showed me that He was personal and loved me individually. After this experience and throughout high school, I got involved in every campus ministry thing that I could. I continued to do this as I started studying English at the University of Louisiana, joining a FOCUS bible study there and entering into discipleship with one of our missionaries at the time, Mercedes.
Although I knew that following Jesus was good and important, I tried to find happiness outside of God in the middle of college. Our new missionary Darby continued to invite me into deeper relationship with God. Through her continual invitation and investment, I eventually realized that I was not meant to lead a mediocre life, but that I was made for abundance. It was around this time that I felt the Lord calling me to hike the Camino, a pilgrimage route in Spain. So, last July, I headed to Spain with a group of students from FOCUS; it was here that the Lord really reached me and showed me the abundance I was made for.
After this trip, I knew that too many people around me were unaware of the love God had for them and the beautiful life He wanted for them. God slowly began to invite me to consider doing mission work, and He eventually revealed that He was calling me to be a FOCUS missionary in particular. Now, I will have the opportunity to encounter college women and invite them into relationship with Jesus! Following the method modeled by Jesus, I will be leading bible studies and investing in women through intentional discipleship. My work will simply be giving people opportunities to encounter the infinite beauty and love of God. The Lord has many beautiful things in store, and I can’t wait to see Him move!
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment with you! I am so grateful for your consideration in joining my team; this work truly would not be possible without your support. May God bless you!

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
