God has called me to serve at Winona State University in Minnesota! I am so excited to see where this year of mission takes me in this beautiful town with this wonderful team.

As a cradle Catholic, I grew up knowing faith was important, but I did not know that God wanted a personal relationship with me. In college, my Bible study leader took me to adoration when I was at rock bottom and ever since I have been discovering the God truly loves me and wants my heart. In college, I led Bible study and discipleship to help other students begin Bible studies of their own. Now I have become a FOCUS missionary because I am convicted that Jesus is TRULY PRESENT in the Eucharist and desperately thirsts for each person’s heart!

Since working at a Catholic summer camp for many years, I think my heart had been predisposed to desire a big, family like environment and ministry such as FOCUS. My college missionary suggested that I apply for FOCUS after I told her I discerned away from attending graduate school for occupational therapy. At the interview, I become strongly convicted that every Christian is called to mission. I desired someone to equip me and challenge me to live mission well through my Catholic faith. My heart was also drawn to the adventure and excitement of FOCUS which I am now realizing God molded into my heart for this purpose. I then said YES to FOCUS and now am moving to the beautiful city of Winona. I am excited to let God unfold His plan to provide for me and all the students He is calling me to encounter this year.

Jesus calls each Christian to go forth making disciples of all nations and this includes me. God has called me to encounter souls during the most pivotal time of their lives: in college. This is where the majority of believers fall away from religion or develop their faith to last a life time. God has invited me to be a part of that.

FOCUS’s mission is to know Christ Jesus and fulfill his great commission: to GO make disciples of all nations. This is completed through deep personal investment in a few people who are taught to go out and invest in a few people too, as opposed to one person trying to reach the whole world.

At Winona, I will be personally encountering students in whatever state of mind them come. I will recruit them to join Bible study and discipleship where they will be formed prepared to lead Bible studies of their own. My goal is to lead as many students as possible into relationship with Jesus and into mission themselves.
