We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
God has called me to be a FOCUS missionary at Troy University in Troy, AL! I serve with my teammates: David and his wife Catherine, Brandon, and Anna. I have loved cultivating new friendships and encountering the Lord with the students here in Troy. The Lord has done amazing things in my life. Come say hi; I would love to share my story with you!
I was extremely blessed to have grown up in a practicing Catholic family where the parish and youth community was amazing. Although my family and parish community laid a firm foundation for my faith life, when I got to college, I no longer had a Catholic community that I was involved with, which caused my faith to be on the back burner. My FOCUS missionary, Jayme, persistently invited me to FOCUS events, but I never accepted the invitations. I primarily placed my identity in athletics, school work, and social life. I wanted to be the best on my team, in the classroom, and around my campus, causing me to be self-absorbed and threatened by other people’s success.
During my sophomore year, several health-related issues forced me to sit out of lacrosse and leave the fall semester early. Suddenly, everything I placed my identity in was taken away from me. I was unsure if I would be allowed to return to campus or play lacrosse again. I felt like I had nothing left and that my life was meaningless. However, during this time, I recognized that there was a purpose to my suffering, and the Lord was inviting me to partake in His cross. I returned to campus and told myself I would give the Catholic community a chance. This was the best decision I ever made in college because I experienced the Lord’s immeasurable love for me through this community, participation in the sacraments, and daily prayer. My heart overflows with gratitude for the Lord’s constant pursuit of my heart and the FOCUS missionaries who never gave up on me.
As a missionary, my greatest desire is to know Christ deeply and lead all students to Christ so they may know the joy of the Gospel. My life has been absolutely transformed by Jesus and I want nothing more than to bring His love and mercy to others and introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel. In His ministry on earth, Jesus humbled Himself to meet us on our level, taking on our humanity, and spent most of His time investing deeply in a few. I look to Jesus’ own example to find the best method of reaching the world. I’ve been constantly amazed by the different souls I’ve encountered on campus.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you, and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.
