We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hi my name is Seth Robert and I’m serving my 6th year as a FOCUS missionary!
I am currently serving as a formator for a new initiative within FOCUS called The John Bosco Project. In order to increase the pool of men that can meet our missionary hiring requirements, we
create an opportunity for men to grow and be formed to become lifelong missionary disciples.
The Bosco Project is a place for many men who desire to answer the Lord’s call but are not free to serve the Church fruitfully, giving them the intentional formation necessary so they can serve freely.
After serving as a missionary at Texas A&M for one year and then four more years at UCD in Dublin, Ireland, I left staff with FOCUS in 2021 and discerned with the CFRs (Community of Franciscan Friars of the Renewal) for 3 years. I left the CFRs July of 2024 and felt the Lord inviting me back into missionary work. The Bosco Project seemed to be the next best step in my life. I am currently serving with the formation house in Denver, CO, helping at the Auraria Campus. This is my 6th year as a missionary with FOCUS.
I grew up in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where I was raised Catholic and went to Catholic school up until college. Upon entering college, I slowly fell away from my faith and started living a very worldly life, a life of sin that left me empty and longing for more. My junior year, a few FOCUS missionaries on my campus (SEMO) reached out to me and over time I started to slowly get involved with the Catholic community on campus; meanwhile, still living with one foot firmly planted in a life of sin.
In July of 2015, I went on a FOCUS mission trip to Brazil at one of the lowest points in my life, having been stuck in various addictions up until that point. But the Lord had a plan for my life, and He showed up big-time during the trip. I encountered His loving Presence in the Eucharist one day during a time of Eucharistic adoration. I felt like the Lord stuck a syringe into my heart, sucking out the sad and pain, and injected new life and joy into my heart. It was as if I came out a new man from that time of prayer and real encounter with the Living God.
From that point on, my life took a 180 and I wanted to be all-in for Jesus. I decided the next year to join FOCUS, in which I served most of my time in Ireland as a missionary. And it was there that I met the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and felt the Lord inviting me to discern religious life/priesthood more actively. After 3 years of doing so and living as a CFR, the Lord invited me to leave and come back to FOCUS to be a missionary. I simply want to follow Him wherever He calls me.
Without spiritual and financial support from mission partners, I am not able to share Christ with those who so desperately need to understand what true love is. This is where you come in! As a missionary, I fully fundraise my entire mission budget and need the support of generous partners like you to perform my work. If you are interested in joining me on mission through your support or even just hearing about what I do on the college campus, I would love to meet up with you in person or chat on the phone with you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me via phone or email and we can get to know each other! God Bless you!
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
