Hey y’all! I’m Siena, and I serve as a missionary at the University of Southern Mississippi.
“Be who God meant you to be, and you will set the world on fire.” – St. Catherine of Siena
The Lord has called me to serve college students at the University of Southern Mississippi! Please pray for me, my team (see photo below), and our students.
To the top!
During my time as a student at Texas Tech University, the Lord used student leaders and missionaries to profoundly transform my faith and way of life. Coming from a farm in Riverdale, California, I found solace in my faith while being so far from home.
In my freshman year in 2020, I joined Greek life and initially separated my faith from my sorority activities. However, at a FOCUS Seek Conference held on campus that same year, I felt the Lord calling me to attend a FOCUS mission trip to Lima, Peru (see photo below). It was here that I learned to pray and experienced the beauty of the sacraments and service. For the first time, I put God at the center of my life, which became the cornerstone of my faith journey.
Today, I am convicted of the need for Greek mission every day as I reminisce how God changed my life with a short, two-week period in Peru. I brought this newfound faith back to my sorority chapter, study abroad experiences, and other college activities.
As my senior year began, a missionary invited me to lead a Bible study group for freshman Greek girls. This role was one of the most fulfilling experiences I’ve ever had. These girls (see photo below) changed my life as we pursued the Lord together, and I taught them about having a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Thus, I gave my ultimate ‘fiat’, or yes, to God and FOCUS, committing to become a missionary. My greatest desire is to introduce students to Christ and show them practical ways to live with Him, filling their lives with joy and purpose!
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
