Where We serve

We served our first two years as FOCUS Missionaries at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD. We have followed God’s call and now serve at the University of Vienna, Austria.

Our Story

Two years ago my wife and I applied to be FOCUS Missionaries after almost 4 years of working in the corporate world as a CPA. Life was great, but through prayer the Lord made it clear He was calling us to apply and serve Him in a more radical way. We were truly open to being placed anywhere, but I begged the Lord that He would place us where we were already living, Spearfish SD at Black Hills State. He answered our prayers. Life got even sweeter, being witnesses for Christ in our favorite little town of Spearfish. After diving deeper into the world of FOCUS, we began having conversations with FOCUS Europe and our hearts began to burn for the European people the more we learned about the gravity of the situation that has been going on in Europe. The progressive culture is far more advanced, and the faith has been significantly more abandoned in Europe than in the US. Just like the parable of the Good Samaritan, Europe is our “bloody neighbor” half dead on the side of the road that we must give the faith back to that they once gave to us. We are so humbled and grateful to be a small instrument in advancing the Kingdom in Vienna.

As missionaries our greatest desire is to lead students to Christ. Our lives have been transformed by Jesus, and we want nothing more than to bring this joy to others and introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel. In His ministry on earth, Jesus humbled Himself to meet us face-to-face, taking on our humanity, and spending most of His time investing deeply in a few. We look to Jesus’ own example to find the best method of reaching the world.

We stepped away from the comfort of a corporate salary and answered the call to join FOCUS full-time. This required the faith-filled decision to fully rely on the spiritual and financial support of our mission partners.
