The Lord has called me to serve at Northern Illinois University! While on campus, I have the opportunity to encounter students through authentic friendship.

Growing up, I was raised in a Catholic family. Church on Sunday was an important part of my faith and family life. I enjoyed getting to participate in multiple youth groups and go on local mission trips. This allowed for me to develop a solid faith life.

Entering college at Kansas State University, I had a strong drive to succeed in all the things I did (school, sports, and work). This lead to my faith being placed on the back burner. It became pretty shaky. I became lost and caught up in the things of the world. I was only worried about the plans I had made for myself and not what the Lord’s plan for me was. I ended up pursuing a master’s like I had always planned.

During my master’s at the University of Illinois, God took things into His own hands. I was in mass one day and they priest was pushing to sign up for bible studies. I thought to myself “Sure, why not join a study. It can’t hurt anything. I have always wanted to join one anyways.” This was when I truly started to encounter the Lord in a deeper, more profound way. Bible study rekindled a desire deep in my heart to build a loving relationship with the Lord. God was patiently waiting for me. He placed many amazing people and experiences in my life to lead me closer to Him. All of these experiences and people led me to attend SEEK22 where the desire for a relationship with the Lord was solidified. After SEEK, I sought out a prayer life and the sacraments. Once I started giving my time to the Lord, I released how lost and confused I was before Him. Through my experiences, I have learned how truly loving and caring our eternal Father is. He is patiently waiting for all of His children to return to Him. I can’t wait to wait to encounter the students who the Lord is calling home and desiring to grow closer to on campus.

We are all called to serve the Lord in many ways. When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to walk with me in this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus.
