Zane Roberts

Hey, my name is Zane! Welcome to my page.

Where I serve

I currently serve at the University of North Dakota as a third-year Campus Missionary and Team Director!

My Story

As a Catholic missionary, I see a large importance in pursuing college students and helping them seek God in each and every day. College is a pivotal time in a student’s life and can determine whether or not they choose to live a life in relationship with our Creator. If it weren’t for strong and courageous Christians in my community, I’m not sure I would have understood the gravity of my decisions and pursuits when I first entered college. After coming to this realization about my own life, I came to know the weight and urgency of this mission and the numerous nudges from God towards this organization.

As a graduate from KansMy parents and I at graduationas State University, my relationship with God grew through my interactions with our Newman Center, St. Isidore’s Catholic Student Center! The liturgy, the people, and the leaders at this student center opened my mind to the possibility of living a faith-centered life during college and beyond. This was a long process, but one that I wouldn’t change for anything. I now work at the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and am seeking to  build up prayerfully our Newman Center into one that is a beacon on campus – one that also opens up the minds of students drifting or unfamiliar with the Catholic faith.

Another aspect of my college experience that influences me today was my time spent in Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. While in this fraternity, I held positions and encountered people that pushed me further toward living an ordered life and pursuing virtue. By the time I was an gabeupperclassman in the fraternity, I was completely convinced of the need for virtuous, firm, and imposing Christian men in fraternities, ones that can withstand cultural trends and – through their witness – provide an alternative fraternal lifestyle to younger members. If I lacked older fraternity brothers that represented this ideal, I likely would not have been open to such a lifestyle for myself! I still remember the regard I had for those older members that dared to live differently than what was expected of them – all for the sake of God and their Christian faith. At the University of North Dakota, I work commonly with the fraternities to provide the men with the option to live a life in accordance with God and Truth. In general, I work with all my amazing students at the University of North Dakota to comply with God’s Grace and fulfill what he asks of us in Holy Scripture: to love one another (Jn 13:34) and to make disciples of all nations (Mt 28:19). As a Newman Center, we strive to be a home emblematic of these values and missions.

teamFinally, I have the opportunity to serve the University of North Dakota as the Team Director for the 2024-2025 school year. It’s my pleasure to serve this beautiful school and city with the experiences and gifts God has given me! I’m excited for the year and all the students that we will encounter. God bless!

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule a time to meet. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.
