Mission Roles MY23
Overview:
Serving as a director or leader on a FOCUS Mission trip is an incredible opportunity for both you and your students! You will gain valuable leadership skills and grow as a missionary, all in service of the poor and spending more time with your students.
Below is a breakdown of where responsibilities lie beginning in MY23. FOCUS Missions wants you to be as present as possible on campus, so we have kept tasks to a minimum.
*Please note that in special circumstances such as a trip reroute, there will be weeks that require additional time in order to shift logistics and communicate appropriately with trip participants.
Director Responsibilities
In general, expect 3-4 hours of work per week.
Weekly:
- Rolling student interviews – 15 min
- Team meeting (bi-weekly in fall) – 45 min
- Fundraise coaching students – 1 hr
Bi-Weekly:
- Coaching meeting with Missions – 45 min
- Webinars/Quick Start Guides – 30 min
One-Time Tasks:
- Plan orientation/debriefing – 2 hrs
- Names doc final approval – 30 min
- Welcome/Logistical/Final emails – 3 hrs
- Book chaplain flight – 30 min
- Cash advances
- Expense reports
- Final prep/checklist
Leader Responsibilities
In general, expect 1-2 hours of work per week.
Weekly:
- Team meeting (bi-weekly in fall) – 45 min
- Fundraise coaching students – 1 hr
Bi-Weekly:
- Webinars/Quick Start Guides – 15 min
One-Time Tasks:
- Orientation/debriefing research – 1hr
- Order Magnificats – 10 min
Missions Department Tasks
These will be fulfilled by your Missions coach.
Ongoing:
- Prep and lead coaching meetings
- Additional trip-specific support as needed
- Update trip budget
- Host communications
- Research country entry requirements
One-Time Tasks:
- Visa guidance
- Order gear
- STEP registration
- Verify forms
- Safety and COVID emails
- Utilization dates
- Prep names doc
- Emergency contact form
